Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has purchased a duplex apartment. Spread over 5,184 sq ft in “Atlantis”, an under-construction project, the property is set in Mumbai’s Andheri suburb and is priced at Rs 31 crore with Rs 62 lakh as the stamp duty. The deal was finalized in December while the registration was carried out in April.

The duplex is on the 27th and 28th floor of the Atlantis, a project being developed by Crystal Pride Developers. Bachchan would also get access to six mechanized car parks with the apartment.

Since the deal was struck in December and registration carried out in April, Amitabh is the latest luminary amongst Bollywood stars, industrialists, and CXOs who will benefit from Maharashtra Government’s stamp duty reduction that was valid until March end.

To revive the real estate sector and almost 260 linked industries by encouraging housing sales, Maharashtra Government had reduced the stamp duty charges to 2% from 5% from September to December-end. Stamp duty was charged at 3% of the settled value between January and March 31st.

Several corporate bigwigs, Bollywood stars including Hrithik Roshan and Alia Bhat, stockbroker Motilal Oswal, cricketer Shreyas Iyer have purchased luxury apartments and finalized their deals during this period.
